What We Grow

Before we were flower farmers, we were avid gardeners who surrounded ourselves with plants of lovely color, texture, and fragrance. We have always had a special interest in native plants, the cottage-style aesthetic, and heirloom and less common varieties. We grew almost exclusively perennial plants and spring bulbs, with only a few annual flowers here and there for a splash of color.

Except for planting many more annual flowers each spring, our growing habits haven’t changed greatly. The backbone of our flower farm is perennial flowers. And many of those perennials reflect our love of the cottage-style garden and might have been grown in your grandparents’ gardens, too. We retain our love of native species, and a good number of them are wonderful cut flowers. We’ve added more shrubs for greenery and foliage.

While it would be tedious to map out a comprehensive list of all the flowers we grow, and not necessarily very helpful since plants “thrive or dive” at the variations in our weather and growing conditions, we’re providing a basic outline of plant types, with photos, and some idea of when those plants bloom and may be available for cut flowers. We’ve organized it by Blooming Periods corresponding to our CSA Subscription Flower Service. We hope that you find it both interesting and helpful.
